Charlize Theron is returning as the villainous Cipher in Fast & Furious 9, and she’s bringing a bowl cut with her.

The Oscar-winning actress took to social media to share two images from the set of the franchise’s ninth (well, tenth with Hobbs & Shaw) entry. The first image shows off the hacker’s new look, with dreads gone and a new shorter ‘do.  “She’s baaaaack,” Theron posted, with the hashtag #Fast9.

It was pretty much a given that Theron would be staying on with the franchise, since the last time we saw her she was jumping out of a plane with a parachute. Having arguably the best villain in the franchise – thus far – escape was a good idea, providing Fast9 with a bigger narrative lead up and hype for what’s shaping up to be quite the star-studded chapter.

Apart from Theron and the returning key cast members, which include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, and Nathalie Emmanuelle, the film will also have Helen Mirren (back as Shaw’s mother), Michael Rooker, and John Cena. Still no word on who Cena will be playing (or if we’ll even be able to see him).

Fast & Furious 9, which brings back director Justin Lin to the franchise after having helmed four chapters (Fast & Furious 6 was his fourth), will be arriving in Australia on May 21 and hitting the US on May 22, 2020.

Theron has a lot on the horizon. Before we see her back as Cipher, we’ll hear her as Morticia in the upcoming animated Addams Family movie; see her playing former Fox anchor Megyn Kelly alongside Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie in Bombshell; and star in Netflix action-fantasy film The Old Guard, where she’ll be leading a small group of immortal soldiers.
