‘Child’s Play’ Behind the Scenes Featurette Brings an Animatronic Chucky to Life

Chucky is more teched up this time around – both in the film and behind the scenes.

A behind-the-scenes featurette has been released for Child’s Play, the upcoming horror reboot that envisions Chucky as a “smart doll” – he’s a connected device now, making him ultra dangerous.  As you can see in the video below, this new version of the Chucky doll was brought to life using animatronics. Nine animatronic dolls – aka Robo Chuckys – were made for puppeteers to control during specific scenes. “It’s an evil robot,” says lead actress Aubrey Plaza. “There’s nothing creepier than that.”

Child’s Play, directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) and written by Tyler Burton Smith (Quantum Break), arrives in Australia on June 20 and hits the US on June 21.

A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic film, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen, a single mother who gifts her son Andy a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
