Netflix is serving up some ‘90s nostalgia with a new promo for its upcoming sci-fi adventure The Electric State, and it’s bound to make some of us feel very old. In the video, titled Chris Pratt Tests Millie Bobby Brown‘s Knowledge on 90s Tech, the two stars explore a collection of gadgets from a time before streaming, smartphones, and social media—aka, the dark ages for Gen Z.

Brown, who plays a ‘90s teen in the film, gets her first hands-on experience with a certain portable cassette player. “But you can walk around with this?” she asks. Pratt replies, “It’s called a Walkman.”

The time-travelling tech lesson continues with answering machines, cassette tapes, and Polaroid cameras. “You shake it like a Polaroid. You ever heard that?” Pratt asks. “No,” Brown replies bluntly. “Of course you haven’t.”

When asked which devices on the table are used to listen to music, Brown points to answering machines. “Those are answering machines. That’s like a voicemail,” Pratt explains to an amazed Brown. “You would have an outgoing message. That was like my Instagram as a kid.”

One of the biggest shockers for Brown? The struggle of cassettes. “If I didn’t want to listen to ‘It’s Your Thing,’ I would have to fast forward through all of ‘It’s Your Thing’ to get to ‘Dreams to Remember’?” she asks in disbelief. “That’s correct,” Pratt confirms. “That’s horrible.”

Between Brown’s reactions and Pratt’s growing realisation of just how much has changed, it’s an amusing reminder of how quickly tech moves—and how quickly it can make us feel ancient.
