It’s been a couple of years since development on this Chucky series was first announced – and now we have our first look.

A brief-but-exciting teaser trailer has arrived for Chucky, a series with the evil doll heading to U.S. networks SyFy And USA. The series was developed with movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini and producer David Kirschner. Original Chucky voice Brad Dourif is believed to be back as well.

The series will have the possessed toy throwing an American town into chaos after popping up at a suburban yard sale. The seemingly idyllic town’s hypocrisies and secrets begin to be exposed as a series of horrifying murders unfolds. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

“With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films,” Mancini said in an interview with Syfy Wire in May. “But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years.”

He added: “It’s so important to give Chucky new weapons, new strategies, and new targets, new goals … Chucky has a different goal in the TV show than he’s ever had before, and it’s specifically something that is designed to evoke something that’s going on in the zeitgeist today.”

Chucky will be making his way to the small screen in 2021.
