Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor will lead The Spot, a Hulu drama-thriller series from writer-showrunner Ed Solomon with A24 as lead studio. Production is slated for 2026.
Kate Winslet was previously attached to the project as star and executive producer before departing in June for creative reasons. Danes was approached soon after; McGregor joined shortly thereafter.

The plot: a marriage under suspicion
As reported by Deadline, the series centres on a successful surgeon (Danes) and her schoolteacher husband (McGregor) who begin to suspect she may be tied to a child’s hit-and-run. Their private fact-finding triggers a messy audit of their lives — timelines rechecked, alibis revisited, and a widening web of secrets and competing versions of the night in question. As doubt hardens, loyalties fray, and the couple’s resolve is tested as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.
The creative team
Created and written by Solomon — who serves as showrunner — The Spot is executive produced by Solomon, Robin Sweet, and Ariel Kleiman, with Kleiman directing. A24 leads production, co-producing with 20th Television.
On the screenwriting side, Solomon’s credits include Men in Black, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Now You See Me — each a franchise starter. On television, his credits include HBO Max miniseries Mosaic (2018) and Full Circle (2023), the latter of which also starred Danes.
Casting notes
Danes’ recent stretch runs from Fleishman Is in Trouble to the forthcoming Netflix limited series The Beast In Me. McGregor’s television run includes Obi-Wan Kenobi, A Gentleman in Moscow, and the Emmy-winning Halston. The two were nearly paired more than twenty years ago on Jodie Foster’s unmade Flora Plum, a circus drama shelved after various delays and funding issues.
