Joel and Ethan Coen have lined up their next film, a comedy set in 1950s Hollywood. Deadline reports that the film, entitled Hail Caesar!, will tell the story of a “fixer” who protects celebrities in the studio system. These fixers helped to keep the image of their assigned celebrities as clean as possible. “For more serious threats, the fixers used pay-outs, strong-arming, and took care of “problems” (real or perceived) by any means necessary.”
The Coen Brothers have talked about the film before, describing it as taking place in the 1920s. That version was set to have George Clooney as the lead actor, but there’s no word on whether or not he is still being kept in mind.
This sounds like the perfect sort of character and setting for a Coen Brothers film, and we’re pretty excited for what they might have here. We’ll keep you informed on any further revelations regarding the project.
