‘Cold Pursuit’ Trailer: Liam Neeson Takes Revenge With Some Dark Comedy This Time Around

StudioCanal

Liam Neeson is back on a revenge streak in Cold Pursuit, an upcoming film that looks to offer a Neeson thriller with a slight difference; it’s got a sense of humour.

Cold Pursuit finds Neeson playing a father whose son suddenly dies of a heroin overdose. It doesn’t take long for him to find out that there’s a mob behind his boy’s death. So, yeah… Neeson’s gonna have to put his particular set of skills to work.

There’s may be a slight tongue in cheek vibe here, but it still seems like more of the same type of Neeson vehicle we’ve come to expect since his Taken transition to ass-kicker. We’ll see; it could be a bit of fun. The location could offer up a nice backdrop for the mayhem, and it’s great to have Laura Dern and Emmy Rossum on board as well.

This is a remake of 2014 Norwegian film In Order of Disappearance, which had Stellan Skarsgård in the lead role. Director Hans Petter Moland returns at the helm for this redo.

Cold Pursuit will open in Australia on 7 February 2019 and US cinemas on 8 February 2019.

Official synopsis for Cold Pursuit:

COLD PURSUIT, an action thriller infused with irreverent humor, stars Liam Neeson as Nels Coxman, a family man whose quiet life with his wife (Laura Dern) is upended following the mysterious death of their son. Nels’ search for justice turns into a vengeful hunt for Viking (Tom Bateman), a drug lord he believes is connected to the death. As one by one each of Viking’s associates “disappear,” Nels goes from upstanding citizen to ice-cold vigilante, letting nothing — and no one — get in his way.
