Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Collateral Beauty, an upcoming drama led by Will Smith.
Written by Allan Loeb, whose credits include Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Dilemma and Here Comes the Boom, Collateral Beauty tells the story of a New York ad man who is sent on a downward spiral after he loses his daughter. He’s soon, literally, talking to death (Helen Mirren), love (Keira Knightley) and time (Jacob Latimore).
It’s could be a touching, creative little film, or a saccharine attempt at inspiring and tugging at those heartstrings. The trailer doesn’t quite build up anticipation, although there’s an undeniably good cast here. We’ll see.
Interestingly, Hugh Jackman and Rooney Mara were attached to this project in the early stages.
Collateral Beauty, directed by David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) and also starring Edward Norton, Michael Peña, Kate Winslet and Naomie Harris, will open in the U.S. on December 16 and arrives in Australia on February 2.
