Live-Action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Series Heading to Netflix

Umbrella Entertainment

A live-action television series adaptation of beloved anime Cowboy Bebop is heading to Netflix. Where else?

Netflix has announced it is teaming up with Tomorrow Studios on a 10-episode series that will tell the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.

There are some notable names behind this one. On board as showrunners/executive producers are Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Josh Appelbaum (Alias), Jeff Pinkner (Venom) and Scott Rosenberg (Knightfall), who are all behind the CBS series Zoo and are attached via their production moniker Midnight Radio. Renowned anime director Shinichiro Watanabe, who was behind the Cowboy Bebop anime series and movie, is attached to the project as a consultant. And Thor: Ragnarok screenwriter Christopher Yost is writing episode 1.
