Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and it doesn’t waste time easing you in. After a lightning-quick montage of season 1 heartbreak, the clip lands a gut punch (spoiler for season 1):
David is dead… But Night City lives on.

Not a Sequel: A Standalone 10-Episode Story
Despite the title, Edgerunners 2 isn’t a direct continuation. Instead, the new 10-episode run carves out its own tale of neon-lit brutality and broken dreams. Shadowy silhouettes hint at fresh faces who’ll have to claw their way through Night City—and, if the first show is any indication, plenty of them won’t make it.
A quick description on the official Cyberpunk website sets the tone, describe it as…
“… a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
What the Creators Are Saying
At Anime Expo in Los Angeles, showrunner Bartosz Sztybor explained that CD Projekt Red always aims for character-driven storytelling—then undercut the seriousness with a dose of gallows humour.
“We are a company from Poland. I’m from Poland, and people in Poland are sad. They are born sad, they die sad,” he joked to a laughing crowd. “I just wanted to make the whole world sad… When people are sad, I’m a bit happy.”
Sztybor promised the new season will be “sadder, darker, more bloody, and more raw,” adding, “David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City.” He also praised the returning animation partner: “To again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD PROJEKT RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before.”

Release Window: Still Under Wraps
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is currently in production. Netflix hasn’t pinned down a launch date—yet—so for now, chooms will have to keep refreshing their feeds and rewatching that brutal teaser. Or, if your heart can handle it, perhaps it’s time to revisit the first chapter.
