The official trailer has dropped for DAKAR: Race Against the Desert, a new motorsport documentary diving deep into one of the most unforgiving racing challenges on the planet. Watch the trailer above and learn more below.
If you’re new to the Dakar Rally, picture 9,000 kilometres of unforgiving terrain — scorching sand, wrecks waiting to happen, and competitors pushing both body and machine to the edge. Then waking up and doing it all over again.

Directed by Jalil Lespert, the film provides viewers with an in-depth look at the dust, drama, and survival, profiling a mix of legends, returning champs, and up-and-comers. We get up close with Sébastien Loeb, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Carlos Sainz Sr., Stéphane Peterhansel, and Australia’s own Toby Price, who may be facing his final Dakar on two wheels. There’s also rising talent like Mason Klein, not to mention insights from familiar names like Cristina Gutiérrez and Carlos Sainz Jr.
The production team behind The Alpinist and The Dawn Wall is at the helm, so expect some jaw-dropping visuals and plenty of sweat-soaked tension. Helping to shape the film’s pulse is a soaring original soundtrack from French electronic outfit M83. Frontman Anthony Gonzalez not only scores the film — he’s also launching his new label, Other Suns, with the soundtrack’s release on May 9.
