‘Dallas & Robo’ Trailer: John Cena & Kat Dennings Voice Animated Series

John Cena and Kat Dennings lead the voice cast of Dallas & Robo, an upcoming animated series set to hit YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) later this month.

From animation studio ShadowMachine, which is also behind Robot Chicken and BoJack Horseman, Dallas & Robo follows two best friend space truckers – a sassy, boozy ex-stock car racer (Dennings) and a hulking A.I. with a sensitive side (Cena) – as they haul cargo all over the galaxy.

The series was created by Mike Roberts, who has credits directing underseen TBS animated series Final Space and Netflix’s fantastic F Is for Family.

There are a number of good animated shows making the rounds at the moment, and Dallas & Robo could be joining the list. The animation looks good, there’s plenty of personality, and the all-American angle for the space action could provided a unique tone. Hopefully the humour works and the writers take advantage of the setting to infuse in some decent sci-fi now and again.

Dallas & Robo, which will also feature voice work from Tim Blake Nelson, Jane Lynch, Giancarlo Esposito, Stephen Root, Nat Faxon, and Clancy Brown, will be available on YouTube Premium in the United States, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia and Korea from May 30. Those in certain other countries will be able to purchase it on Google Play.
