‘Daredevil’ Season 3: Great Villain Returning with New Showrunner

The third season of MarvelNetflix series Daredevil will be bringing back a key villain.

Vincent D’Onofrio is poised to return as Marvel villain Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, following his turns as the crime lord in two seasons of the Marvel series. Deadline broke the news, also reporting that a new showrunner has been lined up for the next chapter.

Erik Oleson, who has worked as writer and co-executive producer on The CW’s Arrow for over a season and was recently an executive producer on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, will be on board as showrunner and executive producer. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb, Drew Goddard and Jim Chory are also attached to executive produce.

“Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk,” Loeb said in a statement. “We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.”

No details have been released regarding the size of D’Onofrio’s role in season 3. Fisk had a big part to play in Daredevil‘s first season and was also featured in the second chapter, although in a smaller capacity.

No release date has been announced for Daredevil season 3. The next Marvel-Netflix series coming our way is The Punisher, which will drop on November 17.
