Next time you’re wondering where to go on your next vacation, maybe consider one of the places visited by New Zealand filmmaker David Farrier. Following his acclaimed documentary Tickled, a must-see doco that finds him delving into a mysterious tickling competition online, Farrier now heads on a worldwide trip exploring “dark tourism,” a phenomenon that finds people visiting some of the more macabre and twisted places our planet has to offer.
How about a place where the radiation is higher than it is around Chernobyl? Why not hang out with a Colombian gangster that executed people? Risk possession? Get tortured? Have people spit on you? Or, why not just hang out with the dead for a bit for R & R? Check out the trailer below, and be aware that some may find it… well, check out that video thumbnail.
Dark Tourist will premiere on Netflix on July 20th.
