Warner Bros. has dropped a new international trailer for the upcoming fantasy action-adventure The Dark Tower, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.
It’s probably the best trailer that’s been released for the film thus far; a tighter, more action-focused marketing piece that keeps the plot straightforward and the characters clear-cut. Plus, those visuals are looking pretty slick.
If you’re expecting Stephen King’s classic work to be faithfully taken to the screen, it looks like you may be disappointed. The film is a sequel of sorts to King’s beloved book series, and one that looks to be going the visual effects-driven popcorn route. That being said, it could still offer an exciting time at the movies. Here’s hoping this long-awaited pic ends up being well worth the wait.
Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directs from a screenplay he penned with Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend), Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Anders Thomas Jensen (The Duchess, The Salvation).
The Dark Tower, also starring Katheryn Winnick, Abbey Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, Nicholas Hamilton and Dennis Haysbert, opens in the US on August 4 and arrives in Australia on August 17.
