Dave Bautista Calls Working for Disney “Nauseating” After James Gunn Firing

Count actor Dave Bautista as one of those deeply unhappy at Disney’s decision to fire filmmaker James Gunn.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director was fired by Disney and kicked off his planned Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 film after past – highly inappropriate – jokes he had tweeted were thrust into the spotlight by right wing individuals angry at his outspoken political stance. Some of the offending tweets were around ten years old.

Wrestler-turned-actor Bautista (who plays Drax in the MCU), has now spoken out against Disney, saying that he finds it “nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis .”

Here’s what Bautista tweeted in response to someone that asked what he would do if Disney didn’t rehire Gunn:

The matter of contractual obligation is what Bautista’s referring to, seeing as he, like many of those who sign up for Marvel films, signed a multiple-film contract. In other words, if you don’t stay on for more movies as you’d promised on that dotted line, you’re risking legal action.

Gunn’s fans have been downright upset at the studio’s decision and the Guardians cast, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper, recently all come together to release a joint statement expressing their support for the filmmaker. While many cast members decided it was best to wait a bit before voicing their opinions on the matter, Dave Bautisa spoke out early, tweeting almost immediately that he was “NOT ok with what’s happening” with Gunn.

As time goes on, it remains more and more unlikely that Disney will go back on their decision to fire Gunn. As per Variety:

Gunn’s firing was approved by Disney Studios chief Alan Horn, with his boss, company CEO Bob Iger weighing in on the final decision. The involvement of the highest levels of Disney signals that the cast pressure to rethink the Gunn ouster will struggle to gain internal support.

  • Dave Bautista who? ahaha as if he was somebody.
please, Disney, fire all of them, all the actors supporting James Gunn.
Gunn’s tweets are disgusting, no matter how long ago they’ve been created by Gunn’s twisted mind. people must learn that this offensive, obnoxious, unforgivable behavior has to be emphatically repelled.
I don’t even want to watch GOTG anymore. I suggest decent people to boycott this movie, unless Gunn’s supporters are replaced, all of them. shame on you Chris Pratt. I’m no longer your fan.
