Dave Franco Making Directorial Debut with Alison Brie-Starring Horror

Dave Franco is gearing up to make his feature directorial debut, and he’s going the horror route.

Franco will be directing a horror thriller titled The Rental, which is set to star Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, Sheila Vand and Jeremy Allen White. Franco co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, Win It All, Easy).

Deadline broke the news, describing The Rental as “a character-driven horror thriller about two couples who rent a vacation home for what should be a celebratory weekend get-away.” It sounds like your usual cabin in the woods-style horror fare, although that’s a simple canvas that can allow for some real creativity. We’re intrigued.

Franco, who is married with Brie, was recently seen in If Beale Street Could Talk and will soon be seen in Michael Bay Netflix action film 6 Underground. Brie stars in Netflix series Glow and is the voice of Unikitty / Ultrakatty in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Beauty and the Beast actor Stevens stars in FX series Legion and will soon be in Natalie Portman sci-fi drama Lucy in the Sky.

Cameras on The Rental will begin rolling in Oregon in April.
