A new cast member has been added to the upcoming Deadpool sequel.

Set to join Ryan Reynolds’ second solo outing as the Merc with a Mouth is actress Zazie Beetz, known for playing Van in Donald Glover’s award-winning FX series Atlanta.

Beetz has been cast as the mutant superhero Domino, who had her debut in the comics in the same 1991 issue as Deadpool (New Mutants No. 98). As with Deadpool and Wolverine, Domino’s powers were the result of the Weapon X program used to create the ultimate soldier. The character boasts quite the interesting power. Apart from exceptional marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat skills, Domino possesses the power to alter probability itself. In other words, she can create “good luck” for herself and those around her.

The comics have seen Domino be the partner, confidante, and lover of the superhero Cable, who will also play a part in the film but who hasn’t yet been officially cast.

Reynolds took to Twitter to make the announcement:

John Wick and Atomic Blonde helmer David Leitch is directing Deadpool 2 from a script by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, The Martian) also had script input. As of now, the sequel is expected to hit cinemas in early 2018.
