Petition Underway for Quentin Tarantino to Direct ‘Deadpool 2’

What would it be like if Quentin Tarantino entered the superhero genre by directing Deadpool 2? There’s a petition to find out. Obviously.

Deadpool director Tim Miller recently walked away from the sequel following creative differences with actor Ryan Reynolds, leaving the director’s chair empty. Well, it didn’t take long – a petition has gone up on to have Quentin Tarantino take the helm of the follow-up.

“If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it,” petition creator Carl Champion Jr. wrote. “We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!”

Of course, this is but a fan expressing their desire to see the director tackle Deadpool, a decidedly different sort of project from the likes of Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds. That being said, crazy things can happen, and it’s kind of fun to imagine what a Deadpool movie would look like with Tarantino at the helm.

“Quentin Tarantino is the master of writing dialogue, and Ryan Reynolds is a master of delivering dialogue,” Champion wrote. “Tarantino makes ultra-violent movies where you love the characters, with horrible language, sexy women, and a villain you will NEVER forget. Tell me Marvel doesn’t need another one of those.”

At the time of writing, the petition has over 3,200 signatures.

Fox is now on the search for a new director for Deadpool 2, which has been scheduled for US release on 12 January 2018.
