Okay, now this just needs to happen.
James Gunn, director and co/writer of Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s sequel, watched Deadpool 2 and absolutely loved it. The filmmaker took to Twitter to share his reaction of the no-holds-barred “fantastic” sequel and to also share is thoughts on the buzzed-about thriller Revenge, posting…
Yesterday I finally saw @deadpoolmovie 2, which I loved, and also the brilliant #Revenge. Two completely different, fantastic films – cinema’s alive! Thanks @DavidMLeitch @VancityReynolds @coraliefargeat @MatildaLutz for a great day at the movies.

And Deadpool 2 actor/producer/co-writer Ryan Reynolds didn’t skip a beat, tweeting…
Thank you James! Crossover?

And then came the response that we all wanted…
Yes, please.

Of course, this is far from anything official, but we can’t deny how enticing a prospect it is. While the Deadpool world has thus far been much more extreme with its humour and violence than Guardians is, the fun, energetic tone and toungue-in-cheek shenanigans of both could easily gel, paving the way for a quip-filled adventure with the Merc with a Mouth and Star-Lord. And besides, with Disney on the way to owning Fox (unless Comcast pulls off one hell of an interception), the pieces could be lining up nicely. Now we just need Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine along for the ride as well.
Deadpool 2 is currently in cinemas. Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently in the works and is expected to arrive sometime in 2020.
Oh, and before you go, here’s a drawing of Grootpool Gunn tweeted to congratulate Reynolds and the team on Deadpool 2‘s strong box office opening.
Enormous congrats to @VancityReynolds, @DavidMLeitch, @RhettReese, @missmorenab & company on Deadpool 2 opening to what looks like over $130 million this weekend. Keep the fun stuff coming! pic.twitter.com/gRk3MGFmkA

This would be awesome! Cmon Disney…
