MGM has dropped a new trailer for Death Wish, the upcoming remake of the ’74 Charles Bronson-starring revenge thriller.
Bruce Willis is the one out for vengeance this time around, playing a surgeon who becomes a one-man army after his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and daughter (Camila Morrone) are attacked in a vicious home invasion.
Gore-loving filmmaker Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno) is at the helm here, which means we could be in for a pretty gnarly path of vengeance. Whether Roth will provide the dramatic tension and emotional drive a film like this needs remains to be seen. The screenplay comes from Joe Carnahan, known for directing/writing Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team and The Grey.
Death Wish, also starring Dean Norris, Camila Morrone, and Vincent D’Onofrio, will open in the US on March 2.
Synopsis for Death Wish:
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures presents director Eli Roth’s reimagining of the 1974 revenge thriller Death Wish. Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city’s violence as it’s rushed into his ER – until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded with crimes, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts for his family’s assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grabs the media’s attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel…or a grim reaper. Fury and fate collide in the intense action-thriller Death Wish.
