‘Delhi Crime’ Trailer: Netflix Series Takes India’s Horrific 2012 Gang Rape Case to the Screen


Netflix has released the trailer for upcoming series Delhi Crime, based on the investigation into the 2012 brutal gang rape and resulting death of Jyoti Singh Pandey .

The 23-year-old female physiotherapy intern was raped and tortured by six men while travelling with her friend on a private bus in South Delhi. The case shook up India and drew international attention as unfolding coverage and protests placed a spotlight on the women’s struggle and rape culture in India.

The series comes from creators Laurence Bowen (The New Pope), Toby Bruce and Richie Mehta, the latter of whom directs all seven episodes. The cast includes Shefali Shah, Swati Bhatia, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang and Yashaswini Dayama, among others.

Delhi Crime will be hitting Netflix on March 22.
