Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Demon City, a blood-drenched Japanese revenge thriller heading to the platform in February. From the looks of it, this one’s bringing the carnage in full force—one for action fans who like their mayhem unapologetically brutal.
Based on Masamichi Kawabe’s manga Oni Goroshi, the film stars Toma Ikuta as Shuhei Sakata, a legendary assassin who gets a second shot at life—and at revenge. Just as he’s ready to leave his violent past behind for his family, the Kimen-gumi crime organisation tears everything apart, slaughtering his wife and daughter and framing him for the crime. Shot in the head and left for dead, Sakata somehow survives but falls into a coma.
Twelve years later, the past comes knocking. The Kimen-gumi re-emerges to finish what they started, but this time, Sakata isn’t just surviving—he’s hunting. As he carves his way through a sea of masked criminals, his killer instincts kick into overdrive, fuelling a vengeance spree that promises blood, bodies, and a reckoning. But beneath all the carnage lies a deeper truth—one that could change everything.
