An enticing teaser trailer has arrived for Disclaimer, a seven-chapter series starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, and Sacha Baron Cohen, among others, and brought to life by five-time Oscar-winning writer and director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men, Roma). Take a look above.
Based on the bestselling novel by Renée Knight, the psychological thriller series has Blanchett portraying Catherine Ravenscroft, an acclaimed journalist known for uncovering the misdeeds of others. Her life takes a shocking turn when she receives a novel from an anonymous author, only to find that she is the main character in a story revealing her deepest, darkest secrets. As Catherine delves into the mystery of the author’s identity, she must face her past before it unravels her present, threatening her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
The supporting cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, and Hoyeon, with Indira Varma providing narration. A strong team altogether, including cinematography by the highly acclaimed Emmanuel Lubezki (The Revenant, Gravity, Tree of Life) and Bruno Delbonnel (Amélie, Inside Llewyn Davis), and a musical score from Oscar winner Finneas O’Connell.
Produced by Apple Studios, Disclaimer is a collaborative effort with Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Alfonso Cuarón and Gabriela Rodriguez executive produce for Esperanto Filmoj, while Cate Blanchett, in addition to her starring role, also serves as an executive producer. David Levine and the late Steve Golin represent Anonymous Content as executive producers.
The limited series Disclaimer is set to premiere globally on October 11, with the first two episodes launching simultaneously. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly, culminating in the series finale on November 15.
