Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for Disenchantment, the upcoming animated series from The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening.
As the voice over says, Groening’s tackled the present in Springfield and the future with Futurama, so, naturally, he’s heading to the past with his next outing. Disenchantment is set in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland and follows the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, who we meet here surprising her father. There’s also her feisty elf companion Elfo and her personal demon Luci.
Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) voices Bean, Nat Faxon (Friends from College) voices Elfo, and Eric Andre (Man Seeking Woman) voices Luci. The voice cast also includes John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
There’s not much to go on with the marketing bit below, but it does provide a taste of Groening’s familiar style of animation and the overall setting. With The Simpsons still going after a whopping 30 seasons and Futurama‘s seven seasons enjoying never-ending reruns, its definitely time Groening deliver another series. We’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store.
Disenchantment will be hitting Netflix on August 17.
