‘Dowton Abbey’ Movie Trailer: The Crawleys Are Back

The official trailer has arrived for the Downton Abbey movie, the feature film continuation of the much-loved UK series that ran from 2010 to 2015.

We catch up with the Crawley famly and the servants as they prepare for some special guests: the King and Queen of England. As you’d imagine, it’s quite the event to organise, and Carson is brought back out of retirement to help with the proceedings. That’s the amusingly simple core plot that’s showcased in the trailer below, but there is more going on, as some characters deal with love and deciding whether or not to remain in Downton Abbey. It goes without saying: this one’s for the fans.



At the helm is Michael Engler, whose credits include four episodes of the show. Series creator Julian Fellowes wrote the screenplay.

Downton Abbey, featuring a cast that includes Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Tuppence Middleton, Maggie Smith, and Imelda Staunton, among many others, arrives in Aus on September 12 and his the US on September 20.

The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country house.  Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.
