Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are set to star together in an action comedy. Did someone just say, KA-CHING!?
Johnson and Hart are to lead New Line’s upcoming comedy Central Intelligence, according to a report by Variety.
Directed by We’re the Millers helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber, the film will see Hart play a former high school sport star turned accountant who is contacted by Dwayne Johnson’s character, a guy who used to get bulled back in school. As Variety reports: “The “loser” that the accountant remembers is now a CIA contract killer who ropes him into helping foil a plot to sell classified military secrets.”
Central Intelligence‘s screenplay has gone through a few hands since the project began. Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen, known for co-producing and writing Fox’s The Mindy Project, originally wrote the screenplay. Sean Anders and John Morris, the two writers behind Hot Tub Time Machine, We’re the Millers, and the upcoming sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, penned another draft before Thurber took the latest pass on the screenplay.
Johnson and Hart have brought in some seriously big numbers at the box office, so New Line’s clearly wanting to jump on this as soon as possible. Production on Central Intelligence is set to begin this spring (U.S. season).
