It looks like Edgar Wright, fresh off his highly publicised split from the helm of Marvel’s Ant-Man, may have found his next project. Deadline is reporting that the director of Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and The World’s End, will next be directing “a collision of crime, action, music and sound.”
The details are scarce, but it is thought that the film, titled Baby Driver, will be somewhat in the vein of his Cornetto trilogy. At this time it isn’t known if Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who starred in Wright’s Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, are involved.
Wright has penned the screenplay. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, from Working Title Films, are producing the film alongside Wright’s longtime producer Nira Park.
This is great news for Edgar Wright fans, who were no doubt devastated when it was announced that he would no longer be involved with Ant-Man, a project he spent around ten years helping develop. Word is that Baby Driver is on the development fast-track; we’ll let you know as soon as we find out anything else.
