Samara Weaving‘s latest has her playing a reformed getaway driver who just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. The official trailer has arrived for Eenie Meanie, an action thriller that finds Weaving’s Edie—better known by her titular alias—dragged back into her old life for a job she didn’t ask for.

Exes, heists, and a return to the driver’s seat
Once a teenage getaway driver, Edie is now trying to keep her life clean. That plan falls apart when a former employer offers her one last job with high stakes: help save her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend John (played by Karl Glusman, Devs). The job involves a casino heist, some high-speed driving, and a reunion she’d rather avoid.
The trailer hints at sharp back-and-forth between Edie and John, with action sequences that put Weaving’s skills—and patience—on full display. The supporting cast includes Jermaine Fowler, Steve Zahn, Andy Garcia, Randall Park, and Marshawn Lynch.
Behind the film
Eenie Meanie marks the feature debut for writer-director Shawn Simmons, creator of the action-comedy series Wayne and a writer on The Continental. The film is produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on the Deadpool films, along with producer Marty Ewing.
In an interview with Collider, Simmons explained why Weaving was an easy choice for the role. “Samara is someone who I’d been watching for a while. I really love Ready or Not. It’s so funny and so dark and so exciting and thrilling, and I felt like she played a really great hero in that movie in a way that was fun.”

Eenie Meanie premieres August 22 on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally (including Australia).
