FX has officially ordered a pilot for Seven Sisters, a new drama set to star Elizabeth Olsen. The project reunites Olsen with filmmaker Sean Durkin, nearly 15 years after their acclaimed collaboration on Martha Marcy May Marlene.
Olsen, whose other series credits include HBO’s Love and Death and Marvel’s WandaVision, will lead the potential series as one of the sisters in a large, tight-knit family. Things start to fall apart when her character begins hearing a voice that no one else can. According to the logline, this unsettling development forces the family to confront long-buried secrets—expect emotional turmoil, unsettling revelations, and, quite possibly, a lot of sibling drama.
Behind the scenes, Seven Sisters is gathering a serious creative team. As first reported by Deadline, the pilot was penned by playwright and Succession writer Will Arbery. Directing duties fall to Sean Durkin, whose recent wrestling drama The Iron Claw made waves last year. Garrett Basch—whose Dive production company has delivered FX shows like Devs, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in the Shadows—will executive produce.
Durkin and Olsen’s last collaboration, Martha Marcy May Marlene, was Durkin’s feature debut and Olsen’s breakout role. The psychological thriller earned them both plenty of acclaim, including a Sundance directing award for Durkin and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Olsen. Durkin’s next feature film project is Deep Cuts, a romantic drama starring Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler.
