The CW’s upcoming DC series Superman & Lois has cast its Lana Lang.
Emmanuelle Chriqui, who you may know from The Passage, Entourage and Wrong Turn, has been cast as Lana Lang in the straight-to-series that will have Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch continuing on with their roles as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Deadline broke the news, reporting that this iteration of the character is…
… Lana Lang-Cushing, the loan officer at Smallville Bank who stayed in Smallville when others left for something bigger and brighter. Lana re-establishes her friendship with her old friend, Clark Kent, during one of the most difficult periods in her life.
Lana Lang has been played by the likes of Diane Sherry in Superman: The Movie, Annette O’Toole in Superman III, and Kristin Kreuk in the popular series Smallville. Chriqui has dabbled with the DC world before, voicing the character of Sapphire Stagg in the CG-animated series Beware the Batman.
Superman & Lois comes from The Flash executive producer Todd Helbing, with DC Universe producer Greg Berlanti also on board. The show – which was given a 13-episode straight-to-series order – will be following the superhero and journalist as they deal with the ups and downs of their respective challenges, while being parents in today’s society. No release date has been announced, although it is expected to premiere late in the year.
