Here’s When ESPN Will Be Available on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand

 

 

Disney+ has officially announced the launch date for ESPN on Disney+, confirming the sports hub will arrive in Australia and New Zealand on 26 March 2025. The new addition will be available to all Disney+ Premium and Standard subscribers, marking a major expansion of the platform’s offering with live sports, studio shows, and ESPN’s original programming.

The launch kicks off just in time for major sporting events, with the NBA Playoffs in April, NCAA March Madness, and MLB Opening Day among the highlights. Fans can also expect coverage of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, UFC Fight Night, and plenty more throughout the year.

Disney+ subscribers in Australia and New Zealand will find a dedicated ESPN hub on the platform. It will provide access to over 10,000 hours of sports content, including live streams of ESPN and ESPN2 channels, popular shows such as SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, and First Take, along with on-demand replays. and ESPN documentary series 30 for 30.

Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand Senior VP and Managing Director, and Head of ESPN Asia-Pacific, said in a statement, “We’re thrilled in the year of ESPN’s 30th Anniversary in Australia and New Zealand to bring our compelling sports offering to Disney+ subscribers in addition to the expansive and beloved entertainment already available on the platform.”

Watson-Wheeler added, “We’re excited to be further broadening ESPN’s audience across major international sports, kicking off with all the action of the NBA Playoffs as the league’s champions battle it out.”

Australia and New Zealand will be the first English-speaking regions outside North America to receive ESPN on Disney+, following its U.S. debut in December 2024.

The ESPN hub joins a Disney+ line-up, which includes titles from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and the Star tile’s general entertainment content. Locally produced Australian originals such as The Artful Dodger, Shipwreck Hunters Australia, and The Clearing are part of the offering.w.

Australian tennis player and NBA fan Nick Kyrgios is fronting a new campaign promoting ESPN’s arrival on Disney+, described as having an “entertaining edge.”

In addition to Disney+, ESPN remains available through Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ.
