A U.K. red band trailer has been released for Everybody Wants Some!!, Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 film Dazed and Confused.
The film, which follows a group of college baseball players as they traverse the ups and downs that comes with new-found adulthood, doesn’t continue a plot set up in Dazed and Confused, but it’s certainly in that film’s vein.
Linklater’s filmography, boasting films such as the Before Sunrise trilogy, School of Rock, A Scanner Darkly and Boyhood, certainly suggests we could be getting yet another special little picture here. His film’s often appear to be simple products on the surface, but there’s usually unexpected layers to explore once you head in. This looks to continue the trend. The film has been getting some positive buzz at SXSW, with early reviews commending the film on its charm and confidence. So, yeah, we’re in.
Everybody Wants Some!! will be hitting the U.S. on April 1.
