Extraction could be one kick-ass action movie.
This Chris Hemsworth vehicle is the first feature as director for fight/stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave (Infinity War, Endgame) – and boy does it look like he’s pulling out all the stops to deliver some crazy action. An exciting behind the scenes video released by Netflix shows that the film will feature one hell of a “oner,” which, as Hargrave himself puts it, “is a series of long shots joined together seamlessly to form a single continuous shot.”
The director put himself right in the action for this one – quite literally. As you can see in the video below, Hargrave strapped himself to the front of a vehicle and decide to film a chunk of the car chase himself. The footage looks nuts.
There are a good number of memorable one-take action sequences – Children of Men, Oldboy, The Protector (2005), Atomic Blonde, True Detective season 1 and Daredevil season 3 hold some that quickly come to mind. Could this be another one to add to the list of great long takes? As Hemsworth explains, the sequence “begins in a car chase, ends up on the street, there’s knife fights, gun fights… it’s good fun.”
We. Can’t. Wait. Extraction, also starring Rudraksh Jaiswal, David Harbour, Pankaj Tripathi, Randeep Hooda, and Derek Luke, among others, hits Netflix on April 24. In case you missed the trailer, head right HERE.
