Brad Pitt has a new box office record. The actor’s latest film, F1, has officially overtaken World War Z to become the highest-grossing movie of his career — at least, when it comes to starring roles.
As per Box Office Mojo, F1 has now earned over USD $545 million globally, nudging past World War Z, which previously held the title at $540 million worldwide. F1’s impressive haul includes $372.3 million from international markets and $173.3 million domestically in the U.S., with the film’s global Imax total alone reaching $84.7 million.
Technically, F1 is Not the Biggest Movie with Pitt

While F1 is Pitt’s biggest success as a leading man, the top-grossing film with Pitt in any role remains Deadpool 2, which earned more than $785 million worldwide. And here’s the kicker: Pitt only appeared in Deadpool 2 for about two seconds. He played The Vanisher, an invisible superhero who is only revealed to be Pitt when the character is electrocuted mid-skydive and becomes visible. It was a memorable blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo, and one Pitt reportedly did for a Starbucks coffee and to impress his kids.
Nevertheless, F1 marks a major milestone in Pitt’s career as both a leading man and a producer. The Apple Original Films title, distributed by Warner Bros., has continued to perform strongly across multiple territories, seeing particularly strong holds in markets like South Korea, where, as per Deadline, box office numbers actually rose 36% in the film’s sixth weekend.
Top-Grossing Markets and Critical Response
The film’s top-performing markets so far include China ($55.1 million), the UK ($28 million), France ($26.7 million), South Korea ($24 million), and Mexico ($19.3 million). Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), F1 stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a veteran Formula 1 driver who comes out of retirement to mentor rising star Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris.
F1 has also been well-received by critics and audiences. At the time of writing, the film is holding an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an impressive 97% audience score.
After decades of box office success — from Troy to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — Pitt has crossed the finish line with the biggest hit of his career. That is, of course, unless you’re counting the time he popped up mid-electrocution in a superhero film for the price of a coffee.
