A big new trailer has dropped for F1: The Movie, the upcoming racing drama that sees Brad Pitt step into the high-speed world of Formula 1. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, the film was partially shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, with Pitt taking to the track to capture the action. Take a look above.Â
Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a former racing prodigy whose promising career was cut short by a crash in the ’90s. Now a drifting veteran of the circuit, he’s pulled back into F1 when his old teammate, now team owner Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), asks him to help save his struggling team. Sonny returns to race alongside rising rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), but finds himself confronting old ghosts — and a new rival who may just outpace him.
The trailer teases a blend of slick racing footage and character-driven drama, with an ensemble cast that also includes Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Bardem. Kosinski and his team, which includes a team of producers featuring Jerry Bruckheimer, seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and Pitt himself, are clearly aiming to tap into that balance of big-screen spectacle and storytelling that made Top Gun: Maverick Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film thus far.
