‘Face/Off’ Remake in the Works; Writer and Producers Set

Paramount Pictures

John Travolta and Nicolas Cage action classic Face/Off is getting a remake.

It’s actually surprising it took this long, considering the success of the first film and the high-concept, star-driven potential. Paramount Pictures has put a remake into development, with a writer and producing team already chosen.

As reported by Deadline, set to write the screenplay is Oren Uziel, whose credits include 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Attached as producer is Neal Moritz (Fast & Furious franchise, The Boys), with original Face/Off producer David Permut (Hacksaw Ridge) on board as executive producer.

The 1997 original saw Travolta playing FBI agent Sean Archer, who’s on the tail of homicidal criminal Castor Troy, played by Cage. After Caster is caught, a plan is put in place to have Sean undergo facial transplant surgery and take Caster’s face, allowing him to go to prison and get the details on a impending attack. Wouldn’t you know it. Caster wakes up, and he puts on Sean’s face.
