A new official trailer has arrived for Fall 2: Deadpoint, sending Harriet Slater (Outlander: Blood of My Blood) 5,000 feet above Thailand in memory of Hunter from the first film. It is a personal connection — and a spectacularly bad idea. Watch the trailer above and read on for what to know.
A Memorial Climb Goes Predictably Wrong
Slater plays Jax, the deeply damaged sister of Hunter, Virginia Gardner’s fearless climber from the original Fall. Hoping to honour her memory, Jax sets out with Hunter’s old friend Luce, played by Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), to tackle the perilous plank walk of Thailand’s Mount Kwan.

The trailer makes the connection unmistakable, showing Jax watching camcorder footage of Hunter. This is not simply another random pair of people making baffling decisions at an absurd height. The sequel has tied its latest nightmare directly to the first film.
That said, maybe, just maybe, do not honour someone who died during an extreme climb by attempting an even more dangerous extreme climb. Just an idea.
“Even Your Fear Has Nowhere to Go”
Tom Brittney (Grantchester, The Westies) plays the guide approached to take Jax and Luce onto Mount Kwan. He does not exactly keep the danger secret.
“Do you know what you’re asking?” he says. “You’re asking for someone to take you on the most dangerous trail in Thailand. If it rains, the planks will be too slippery to turn back. And that high up, even your fear has nowhere to go.”
Naturally, they hear all of that and proceed anyway.
The trio ventures onto a trail of narrow, deteriorating planks suspended above a truly nauseating drop. Rain begins to fall, the structure gives way and a rockslide leaves Jax and Luce stranded 5,000 feet above the ground.
Brittney’s instructions to “clip in, clip out” echo across footage of the women scrambling for safety as the mountain keeps finding new ways to make matters worse. With no clear route down and their strength fading, staying put is only making them weaker.
“The longer that we wait, the weaker we get,” Luce warns.
The Spierig Brothers Take Over
The sequel is directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, the Australian filmmaking duo behind Predestination, Daybreakers and Jigsaw.
They take over from Scott Mann, who directed the 2022 original and helped turn its lean survival premise into a word-of-mouth hit. Made for around US$3 million, the first film earned more than US$20 million worldwide before reaching an even wider audience through streaming.
Mann remains closely involved, co-writing the screenplay with returning writer Jonathan Frank and producing alongside James Harris, Mark Lane, David Haring and Christian Mercuri.
Fall 2: Deadpoint Release Date
Fall 2: Deadpoint will open in U.S. cinemas on September 2 and in Australian and New Zealand cinemas on September 3.
