Here’s the first look at the next two-part epic from John Woo, the director of Red Cliff, Mission: Impossible 2, Face/Off, Broken Arrow and Hard Target.
The Crossing, an epic romantic drama set in the 1940s, follows the intertwining love stories of three couples as they flee to Taiwan during the Chinese Revolution. The love story incorporates the 1949 sinking of The Taiping, a Chinese steamer that went down with over 1500 souls.
There are quite a few big names attached to this project, with an impressive cast that includes Zhang Ziyi, Huang Xiaoming, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Masami Nagasawa, and Song Hye-kyo, all working off a screenplay by Hui-Ling Wang (Lust, Caution, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
The epic drama will be split into two parts, just like Woo’s previous film Red Cliff, with the first half set for a China 3D release on December 2. Part two is set to hit China in May next year.
