If the title sounds familiar, it’s because this is remake of the 1981 movie of the same name, starring Brooke Shields opposite Martin Hewitt. The most memorable thing about that film has to be the title song by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, which even garnered Richie an Oscar nomination. Random fact: the original film starred a young James Spader (billed as Jimmy Spader) as Shields’ brother.
The new film stars Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) as two teenagers in love who are kept apart by their parents. It’s the typical coming-of-age star-crossed love story, and this trailer really goes for the drama in what is essentially the same thing we’ve done a million times before. Admittedly, the film’s target audience will probably enjoy this. Hopefully, the rest of us will find some redeeming factors amongst the cheese.
