The first trailer has been released for Freeheld, an upcoming true-story drama starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page.
Moore plays New Jersey police lieutenant Laurel Hester, a woman who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and fought a landmark battle to have the right to leave her partner (Page) her pension benefits.
Peter Sollett (Raising Victor Vargas, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) directs what looks like an important and powerful drama here, and Moore could be on track to delivering yet another great performance following her Oscar winning turn as a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease in Still Alice. The impressive supporting cast includes Steve Carell, Michael Shannon, and Josh Charles.
Written by Ron Nyswaner, who earned himself an Academy Award nomination with his screenplay for the fantastic 1993 drama Philadelphia.
Freeheld hits the U.S. on October 2.
