The trailer has arrived for From Scratch, a Netflix romantic-drama limited series led by Zoe Saldaña and Eugenio Mastrandrea.
The series, inspired by the memoir written by actress Tembi Locke, tells the story of an American student (Saldaña) who meets and falls in love with a Sicilian chef while studying in Italy. Their whirlwind romance faces many unforeseen challenges, including their very different cultural backgrounds; true to real life, it is also infused with lightheartedness and moments of humour that exist alongside the more serious ones. But when Lino is faced with unimaginable health challenges and the couple’s future is threatened, the two families come together to create an extended family unlike any they could have imagined, proving that love crosses all borders.
Tembi wrote the series alongside her sister, Attica Locke, who also serves as showrunner. Saldaña is among the executive producers, as is Reese Witherspoon via her Hello Sunshine production banner.
You may want to have tissues at the ready for this one. From Scratch, also starring Keith David, Kellita Smith, Judith Scott, and Lucia Sardo, is streaming on Netflix from October 21st.
