Can you believe we’re already at the end of season 6?
The last episode of Game of Thrones‘ sixth season is set to air next week, and HBO has dropped an intriguing trailer to whet appetites.
Sure, we’re incredibly excited/devastated to see the season finale, but anything will be hard-pressed to come even close to the jaw-dropping experience that was the penultimate episode, “Battle of the Bastards.” Absolutely epic in scope, the second-last episode gave us some incredible dragon action and one of the best battle scenes filmed, like, ever. Be still our beating hearts.
Episode 10, titled “The Winds of Winter,” will see Cersei head to trial (without the chance to put her mountain in combat) alongside Margaery and Loras, Jon and Sansa worried after taking back Winterfell, “the Freys and the Lannisters send their regards,” Little Finger (Ew!) proclaiming his feelings for Sansa, Davos confronting Melisandre by highlighting a past event to Snow, and more.
Director Miguel Sapochnik, who was at the helm of season 5’s “Hardhome” and this season’s “Battle of the Bastards,” returns to direct this finale, so we know we’re in good hands. “The Winds of Winter,” also the title of George R.R. Martin’s next book, will be the longest Game of Thrones‘ episode ever: 69 minutes.
