We don’t have long, folks. Game of Thrones season 6 is right around the corner, and HBO has released its official, as-expectedly tease-filled synopsis.
HBO has been doing a good job of keeping the details of the latest season under wraps, especially considering this is the chapter that will well and truly branch away from George R.R. Martin’s source material.
Without further ado, here’s the synopsis for the season:
Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.
And here’s the amusingly quick synopsis for episode 1, titled “The Red Woman”:
Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.
As usual, the last season left our favourite characters in various predicaments, or in Snow’s case – dead (really though?), and you can bet your bottom dollar that we’re going to be in for more brutal surprises in this next chapter.
Game of Thrones season 6, which introduces new cast members Pilou Asbaek, Essie Davis, Souad Faress, James Faulkner, Richard E. Grant, Ian McShane, Joe Naufau, Freddie Stroma and Max von Sydow, will begin on April 24 (U.S. date).
