New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Trailer: The Dead Are Coming

game of thrones - season 6

“The real war is between the living and the dead,” says Liam Cunningham’s Davos Seaworth in this big new Game of Thrones season 6 trailer, furthering our anticipation for a chapter that could potentially feature one huge battle with the White Walkers.

If there is a criticism that has arisen over the years, it’s that Game of Thrones takes much too long to develop plot arcs and move from one narrative turn to the next, at times obviously dragging out the source material. Well, now that we’re officially leaving behind George R.R. Martin’s slowly developing book series, perhaps the series will find a new stride. At least from the trailers, which have gotten us pretty damn excited for the next chapter of this mammoth television spectacle, it looks like we’re in for an energetic, deliciously dark next season.

Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) looks ready to kick some ass, especially with the knowledge of what happened to Cersei (Lena Headey) last season; Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is getting to know the new Dothraki khlasar; Sansa (Sophie Turner) looks to be reaching boiling point; Jorah (Iain Glen) hides his worsening greyscale infection; and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) says hi to a dragon; among the many, many little goodies shown off in the new trailer below.

The premiere is right around the corner, so you better start clearing that schedule. HBO‘s Game of Thrones season 6 will be kicking off on April 24.

Synopsis for Game of Thrones season 6:

“Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.”
