The end is near.
Can you believe the final season of Game of Thrones is on the way? It’s a downer to have such an awesome series coming to end, but it’s also downright exciting to find out what’s in store as this epic narrative culminates. Who will end up on the throne? Who else will bite the dust? It’s anyone’s guess at the moment, but at least we now have an official trailer to scrutinise like crazy as we wait for the premiere.
It’s a teaser-ish trailer, but there’s plenty of enticing snippets to get that hype going – even more so. The final season will only have 6 episodes, but they’re promising to be decidedly epic. Each will be feature length, not to mention the fact that this season will have perhaps the biggest war scene every filmed. Like, ever.
“What we have asked the production team and crew to do this year truly has never been done in television or in a movie,” co-executive producer Bryan Cogman told EW. “This final face-off between the Army of the Dead and the army of the living is completely unprecedented and relentless and a mixture of genres even within the battle. There are sequences built within sequences built within sequences. David and Dan [wrote] an amazing puzzle and Miguel came in and took it apart and put it together again. It’s been exhausting but I think it will blow everybody away.”
Be still our beating hearts. Game of Thrones season 8, which will feature a massive cast that includes Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie, and Peter Dinklage, will premiere on April 14.
