Take a look at the trailer released for Gerald’s Game, the Stephen King adaptation heading to Netflix later this month.
Carla Gugino plays Jessie, a woman who agrees to head to an isolated lake house with her husband (Bruce Greenwood) in the hopes of spicing up their marriage. Things go downhill fast after she is handcuffed to take part in some role-playing kinkiness. He suddenly suffers a heart attack, leaving her cuffed to the bed, alone, without help nearby.
King’s work is as prominent as ever with adaptations – such as The Dark Tower, television series The Mist and the highly anticipated It – coming out left, right and centre. Gerald’s Game looks like it could be a solid little thriller, one that gives Gugino a chance to showcase those acting chops. Director Mike Flanagan has been building a strong resume thus far, delivering well crafted horror with films like Oculus, Hush and Ouija: Origin of Evil.
Gerald’s Game will be hitting Netflix on September 29.
