Modern classics Forrest Gump (1994) and Ghostbusters (1984) will both see their anniversaries later this year. To celebrate, Paramount Pictures has announced the U.S. re-release of Forrest Gump in Imax. This is closely timed to Sony’s news that Ghostbusters will once again hit U.S. theatres for its anniversary.
20 years ago, Forrest Gump took out the Best Picture Oscar and cemented Tom Hanks’ fame. In September we will once again get the chance to experience the magic on the big screen.
Ghostbusters is about to see its 30th year anniversary. This will be marked by the release of a restored and remastered version, which is to receive a limited theatrical run in the U.S. beginning August 29. We can also expect blu-ray anniversary editions of the film and its 1989 sequel.
In side news, Paramount has also announced that they are moving up the U.S. release of SpongeBob SquarePants 2 by a week to February 6th.
