A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Emily Blunt-starring The Girl on the Train, based on the bestselling novel by Paula Hawkins.
As with the book, Gone Girl is being called as a point of comparison with this one, and it’s clear to see why. The Girl on the Train tells of Rachel, a recently divorced woman who witnesses a shocking incident take place from her train. As she becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds, it becomes clear that there’s plenty going on that Rachel – and us – are not initially privy to.
It’s all about atmosphere and tone in this trailer, and it’s a damn intriguing look at a thriller that could very well be a standout come release this October. And of course there are early award whispers circling for the reliable Emily Blunt, who looks to be putting in quite a turn here. We can’t wait.
The Girl on the Train, also starring Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Allison Janney, Luke Evans, Haley Bennett, and Edgar Ramirez, will arrive in Australia on October 6 and hits the U.S. on October 7.
