Final ‘Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters’ Trailer Shows Off an Epic Creature Feature

Roadshow Films

The final official trailer for Godzilla II: King of the Monsters has been released, showcasing a great deal of the upcoming monster fest.

This thing looks suitably epic, as our titular overgrown lizard once again comes out ready to brawl to save our sorry asses. Godzilla faces the three-headed King Ghidorah in this chapter, which also sees the rise of a number of other god-sized monsters, including Mothra and Rodan. The big new trailer offers up a lot of footage, if maybe even a little too much. Still, it’s got this writer well and truly hyped to grab some popcorn, a choc top, and an epic-sized sugar drink to see these titans clash on the big screen.

Among the humans in this creature feature are Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson Jr and Zhang Ziyi, with Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) directing from a screenplay he wrote with Zach Shields (Krampus).

Godzilla II: King of the Monsters will be hitting Australia cinemas on May 30 and opens in the US on  May 31.

Official synopsis for Godzilla II: King of the Monsters:

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse: “Godzilla II: King of the Monsters,” an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

GODZILLA II: KING OF THE MONSTERS is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds and Zhang Ziyi.

GODZILLA II: KING OF THE MONSTERS releases in Australian cinemas on May 30, 2019.
